Grey Goose

“The Goose” happens to currently be my favorite vodka. They shot on the scene and did some massive marketing, and it just all paid off. Huge name, and it rides right along with an amazing smoothness that no other vodka to date has offered me. It has a nice aroma, and taste. I think it is as close to perfect as I could ever hope to drink. Armadale is giving it a run for its money, but I think it is going to be hard to top.

My friend one time asked me what went best with grey goose because he was thinking of trying some… Thats the end of that story :)

Your fanboi-ism of Grey Goose is undeserved, there are better vodkas with much better heritage than that crap. I find the pure product positioning and profit maximizing manufactured nature of Grey Goose to be a huge turnoff - anyone who is sucked in to the rampant commercialism of that brand is missing out on the variety of high-end vodkas available to a true connoisseur. Ketel One is the best example, with Chopin, 3 Olives and Ciroc all showing what a good distillery can do. Each of these alternatives also demonstrates a vodka education that is sorely lacking in the Grey Goose crowd, sucked in to the marketing savvy of billionaire Sidney Frank, who created the brand in 1997 - and recently sold to Bacardi. The vodka’s image is completely synthetic, with France being chosen to elicit impressions of class, and the price being artificially set to imply quality over other brands.

Sure, Grey Goose is expensive. But having seen and participated in several blind vodka testings, I have rarely seen anything but Grey Goose come out on top. Regarding cheaper vodkas, I’ve tried several bottles of Viking Fjord recently. It’s good but not great. Give it a shot and let me know what you think.
