Pinnacle

Pinaccle VodkaBack to Grain Vodka!!

I was shopping and saw a simple yet attractive bottle, which turned out to be Pinnacle Vodka.  Very reasonably priced, under $20.  There was nothing surprising about this vodka, it was a nice, clean drinking vodka.  Very little after taste, which was nice.  It had a little bit of a bite to it right away, which most of the non-premium vodkas do, until they get a little watered down.

I would compare this to Fris as far as where I rank my vodkas.  It is a very good vodka for the price, and I will not hesitate to purchase this vodka again.  It would be a perfect bottle, just like Fris, to take to a friends house, where I wouldn’t mind someone mixing it, but I can still drink it straight.

DiVine Vodka

DiVine VodkaDiVine Vodka is distilled from grapes, right here in my home state of Michigan.  With Michigan grapes none the less (Blanc).

I was very excited to try this bottle; I actually purchased it a number of months ago, and was waiting to get the last bottle out of my freezer before opening it!

It was a very pleasant surprise.  Right off the bat from its nose I could tell it was going to be a great grape distilled vodka.  Very smooth, and a very pleasant taste.  With Idol and Ciroc, I noted they had a little more flavor than the grain distilled vodkas, but DiVine has an actual pronounced grape flavor.  Not grape as in the purple popsicles of our youth, but grape as in, I could tell it was made from grapes, not just that it had a sweeter flavor to it.

The only downside is that it may actually have a hair too much flavor for me.  After leaving it sit so some of the ice could melt, it became much more enjoyable for me.

All said and done, I see no reason to buy a different grape distilled vodka again.  I will absolutely purchase this bottle again, not only am I buying a superb bottle of vodka, I am supporting Michigan business, all the better!

Jaguar

Jaguar VodkaFirst off, sorry for how long it has taken me to get this next bottle up for a vodka taste test. I haven’t had time to drink much, and when you aren’t drinking, a bottle of vodka takes a while to finish off!

For what it’s worth, I was extremely excited to try out this bottle of vodka.  I got to my local liquor store and asked if they had something new, and I was given this bottle of vodka they said was distilled from sugar cane.  Interesting? I thought so!

For the first time since starting this site, I have to regrettably give my first actual bad review.  I opened this bottle up, and smelled it, as I always do, and quickly noticed a rather prevalent, strong aroma.

I poured a glass and took my first sip, and that was all I really wanted.  I have drank about half of my glass so far because I keep taking sips, and thinking of what I can compare it to; I keep coming up blank.  It has way more flavor than any other vodka I have tried.

Either way, I am not satisfied with this product, though to be fair, I will have a friend try this right away, before they have a chance to look at my site, and I will report what they thought as well.

On the plus side, this product has another agenda, protecting the environment, which I am all for, as should everyone.  For that reason only, I suggest buying this vodka!  You just will have to be mixing it with something :-/

Thanks for reading, I will obviously have the next bottle faster as I do not plan on drinking this one, and waiting until I have a friends house I can take it to :-p

Ciroc

Ciroc VodkaI had some suggestions from my readers about some vodkas to go try. I just want to let those guys know that I did my best, but could not find either. I will keep looking so stay tuned!

After trying Idol, I figured I might as well try another grape distilled vodka to compare to Idol. My choice was Ciroc for this vodka taste test. As far as I remember, Ciroc was the first popular vodka distilled from grapes, feel free to leave a comment if it was another one.

Ciroc, on its own, is a great vodka. Hands down, it has the most flavor of any vodka of comparable smoothness. It has a nice mouth feel, and does not really grab my throat much at all on the way down like a lot of others. If we are going to compare it to Idol however, it is not the victor.

When it comes down to it, I would absolutely purchase another bottle of Ciroc. It was a very enjoyable vodka. It’s amount of flavor is currently unmatched compared to any other vodka to date, yet its smoothness and sophistication does not compare to the taste I had with Idol.

Stay tuned for the next bottle. I bought a vodka distilled from something completely new, so it should be good!

Boru

Boru VodkaIt is getting harder and harder to get new bottles of vodka at my local shop. Soon, I will need to start venturing around for new bottles!

So what happened the last time I walked in and asked for a vodka I have not tried? I was offered Boru Vodka. I had not heard of it, I liked the bottle, it was distilled from grain, why not!

I popped open this bottle tonight and was pleasantly surprised with the aroma. If it tasted as good as it smelled, I figured I was in for a treat. While it did not quite go that far, it was still a very nice vodka. Reminded me of Finlandia the most, I think. It has a little more flavor than Grey Goose or Armadale, but was still very smooth. Where it compared to Finlandia was more in the throat feel. It goes down easy, but has a little bite of warmth on the way that hangs on for a little while.

They say on the website that this vodka is named for an Irish king from about 1000 years ago. Sounds like a good story to me! All in all, if someone was to bring this bottle over to my house before we sat down to a game of cards, I would be a pretty happy guy.

Good work Ireland :)

Vertical

I have actually had this bottle of vodka for a week or so.  I did not write about it immediately because I was trying to make up my mind how I felt.  Vertical vodka is a pretty decent vodka.  What was interesting for me is that it is just not interesting!  It is a very nice, rather smooth drinking vodka.  Nothing jumps out at you like it is extraordinarily smooth.  Nothing unique about its flavor comes out at you.  One thing I liked is that it is a little less harsh on the throat on the way down than some of my favorites.

When it comes down to it, this is a nice bottle of vodka, though there is little about it to make it stand out from the crowd.  Would I drink it again, yes.  Would I buy it again, no.  For the price of this bottle ( $35) I can get a much more enjoyable experience in another bottle :)

Idol

Vertical VodkaMy first vodka distilled from grapes!

I have to say, I am dually impressed with this bottle of vodka. It has the smoothness of an armadale or grey goose, but I would have to venture to say it does it with a little more flavor. I have been leery of any vodka distilled from anything other than grain, and have been especially leery of the grape distilled vodkas of the past few years. I saw Ciroc come onto the scene a few years ago and make a big buzz, and thought it was more hype than anything. Even though my favorite vodka is possibly the most marketed and hyped of all time, so that is a bit hyprocritical of me.

All in all, I was very surprised at what I got from this bottle. It is a great vodka that I would recommend to anyone, and I am going to have to think very hard about my next bottle. One good thing though, the next bottle should be rather quick since this one is getting drank pretty fast :)
